1-Day Devotional
When a thunderstorm is occurring in a specific area, airports all across the nation are briefed. They are made aware that a particular area can be dangerous to fly through. So what they’ll do is either delay or cancel your flight, even if the skies are clear where you are, because that storm is in the flights path.
Sometimes they won’t even tell you what’s going on. So like most people, your frustration might seep in, or some irritation and confusion. What’s going on? Can you tell me why we ain’t moving? Why aren’t we up in the air?
But, the thing about it is, air traffic control knows exactly what they’re doing. You know why? They can see what you cannot. They are much higher than you are.
Similarly, what Father will do in certain situations is have you wait for just a moment. He might even cancel your plans. In doing so, you might ask, “Lord what is this? How come we ain’t moving? What are you doing?”
What God is doing is shielding you from the danger that is just a little bit further down the journey. And in these moments we have to trust God. That is not easy! But remember this: He knows every plan He has for you, and none of them are for evil. We also have to remember what the Lord says in Isaiah 55:9.
He says, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” That means that we cannot possibly understand why God does all the things He does.
But, we can be sure of these two things: Father will either delay something for a certain period of time, or He will establish His protection within rejection.
Even if the relationship ended, it ought to be “God I trust you.” Even if the job application didn’t work out, it ought to be “God I trust you.” Even if some folks walked out on you, it ought to be “God I trust you.” Whatever it is, “God I trust you.”
God has not abandoned you, He has not forgotten about you, He has not turned on you! Rather, He is operating in His divine Fatherly role, watching over you wherever you go. Trust and believe this as you go through this week, knowing that Father knows best!

Prayer of the Day: Father, thank you for your provision and your protection. Although I can't always see what you're doing, and though I may not always understand, I put my trust in you! Remind me that your ways and thinking are greater than mine, and let the truth of your love cover me as I go about this day and week. In Jesus name, amen!

If you want to go deeper, here is some scripture to go along with today's reading: Isaiah 55:9, Jeremiah 29:11, Deuteronomy 31:8, Genesis 28:15, Psalm 121:8, Proverbs 15:3
