1-Day Devotional

What would a world look like if we all depended on Jesus to fight our battles? What would happen if we gave complete control to God? If we surrendered to God? Scripture tells us that we would not only see victory, but we would also find peace, joy, and healing.

Today’s world is so consumed with darkness and I can’t help but realize that what we need now, is to turn over our control to Jesus.

When we allow Jesus to take control of our problems and our issues, we can kick back, relax, and rest. I like how Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Here, God gives us a command, and His command is to be still.

For many, looking at this verse can be a bit troublesome. Why would I sit down and be still? If I sit still, the battles won’t be fought, right? Actually, the reason God is telling you to be still, is because He’s got it. He’s the God who is in control of whatever seems to be out of control.

If you ever wondered why fixing things on your own strength has never worked, it’s because the problem wasn’t meant to be fixed by you.

Some know what it’s like to have a problem with their car. You have this problem you need fixed but you might not have the tools or the time. And sometimes, if you try to fix it, the problem just keeps coming back. Eventually, you turn to the mechanic to get the problems fixed because only the mechanic has the ability to fix what you cannot.

The reason why our problems keep coming back up is because we keep pulling at the product of our problem and not the source of it. And the source of our problem cannot be taken care of until we invite the source of our solution into the situation—the one who can see all throughout the crevices and everything else that is hidden.

We have to give all our problems to the one who has the ability to seal every broken piece and mend them together. Because guess what? You don’t got the tools! God is fully capable, and He is the only one who is.

Allowing God to take control of a situation we can’t fix, is going to give us victory in the places that need fixing. You will begin to see victory in your family, marriage, finances, and in any other personal circumstance.

Prayer of the Day: Jesus, thank you for fighting for me. Thank you for being my victor. I pray and ask that you would show me how to rest in you and to surrender to your authority at all times. I trust you, and I let go so that you would take control. I praise you for all that you do, it's in your name I pray, amen!

If you want to go deeper, here is some scripture to go along with today's reading: 1 Corinthians 15:57, Deuteronomy 20:4, Romans 8:37
